A website on the topic of deinstitutionalisation of long-term care for the elderly has been established

In the context of a cross-border project called Aging without limits – STAR, which is co-financed from the cross-border programme Interreg V-A Slovenia-Croatia 2014-2020, the website www.projekt-star.eu has been established.

Project partners from the Slovene side are: the municipality of Hrpelje-Kozina, Coastal retirement home Koper/ Casa costiera del pensionato Capodistria, the Institute of Anton Trstenjak for Gerontology and Intergenerational Relations. Partners from Croatia are: Retirement home Kantrida Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Associated partners are the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and the Croatian Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy.

The project STAR addresses common challenges: aging population, which is typical for the entire area of the programme, and increased need for social care services; inequalities in access to quality social services and low level of efficiency, as well as the untapped potential of social welfare institutions for cross-border cooperation. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the partnership, to develop new forms and to upgrade existing models and programmes of deinstitutionalisation of long-term care, to increase participation and empowerment of the elderly, and to help them live independently in their home environment for as long as possible.

More information is available on the project website:  http://www.projekt-star.eu, and you are also welcome to visit our Facebook profile Projekt STAR.
