Kick – off meeting of project KRASn`KRŠ

The kick-off meeting of project KRASn`KRŠ was held at Pr`Nanetovh Promotion center in Matavunu on September 6. The meeting marked the official start of the project KRASn`KRŠ which is one of the 12 approved projects within the second deadline of the Open call of the Cooperation Programme Interreg V-A Slovenia-Croatia in the programme period 2014-2020.

Project manager, dr. Mateja Breg Valjavec, presented the most relevant information about the project. The total value of the project is 1.524.792,25 EUR and the value of ERDF funds approved for this project is 1.296.073,40 EUR or 85% of the total project value.  The project is expected to last from September 2017 to February 2020. Seven partners cooperate in the project, and they are: lead partner Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Utilities and housing company L.C. Sežana, Škocjan Caves Public Service Agency, Institute Factory of sustainable tourism, Ljubljana, Natural history museum Rijeka, Municipality of Punat, Muses Ltd consulting and managing in culture and tourism and five associated partners.

The project’s main goal is to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the karst landscape. The key result of the KRASn’KRŠ project will be an increased recognisability of karst heritage, which will be reflected in a greater number of visitors to the four heritage areas and their wider hinterlands.

The assembly was also addressed by a JS member. She congratulated the project partners on singing the Subsidy Contract and wished them success with the project`s implementation. She stated that the  CP  Slovenia-Croatia aims at promoting sustainable, safe and vibrant border area  by fostering smart approaches to preservation, mobilization and management of natural and cultural resources for the benefit of the people living and working in or visiting the area and that the implementation of the KRASn`KRŠ project will contribute to that.
