Project summary

Specific cross-borders objectives of the project were: a study of cross-border cultural and historical ties; revitalization of 5 buildings which are important for cultural history (Žitnica of Erdödy castle, park Erdödy, Metlika castle, Črnomelj castle, church of St. Vid); establishing the cross-border path between the revitalized cultural facilities and other significant cultural and historical sites in the project area; organizing the exhibition at 3 locations (Žitnica of Erdödy castle, Metlika castle, Črnomelj castle) based on the results of cross-border cultural and historical ties study. The main added value of the project was the contribution to the broad public awareness of the cultural and historical heritage of the region and cross-border integration, which was achieved by disseminating the results of study through information and reporting activities; organization of exhibitions and the establishment of cross-border cultural path. The cultural path included revitalized cultural objects which were prevented from further degradation and had a functional role in the development of the area in the future. The implementation of the project had laid the foundations of a cross-border cooperation, focused on cultural, historical, real and unreal heritage, and contributed to economic and social development of region, and the overall quality of life in the project area. Outputs of the project were: a study of cross-border cultural and historical links in the area with focus on the 16 Century; conference / professional meeting; publication on the topic of the study and its results; digital architectural recording of Erdödy castle in Jastrebarsko; archaeological investigations in the Erdödy castle; restoration and conservation research in Erdödy castle; conservatory study for the Erdödy castle; feasibility study for the Erdödy castle; revitalization of the Žitnica (Erdödy castle) in Jastrebarsko; revitalization of the natural and cultural park – the Erdödy park in Jastrebarsko; the repair of the roof and attic of the Metlika castle and its adaptation for museum purposes; the repairchurch of St. Vid; elaboration of documentation for the renewal of 1., 2. floor and attic of the Črnomelj castle; energy audit and energy-saving project for the design of the Črnomelj castle; elaboration of conceptual solutions and building project documentation for the renewal of the ground floor atrium and the entire basement and ground floor of the Črnomelj castle; glazing and arrangements in 1. floor atrium of the Črnomelj castle; exhibitions of cultural cross-border links in Jastrebarsko, Metlika and Črnomelj; a brochure; a website of the project; advertising in local media in the project area.
