EKOMUZEJ MURA

Project summary

Specific cross-border objectives of the project were: the establishment of management and promotion of the new – common tourist destination; provision of infrastructure necessary for the development of soft tourism near the Mura river; the reconstruction and installation of objects of cultural heritage; organization of hiking trails and tourist sites in the area of the Eco-museum Mura; equal distribution of tourists in the whole area; training of new holders of traditional professions (a miller, ship operator); training of tourist guides for leading through the area of Eco museum Mura; animating the local population to participate in the new tourist events; and increasing the number of tourists in the border region. With the help of EU funding in the border area strong economic and social ties across Mura river were formed. The added value of EU funds is reflected in the improvement of conditions for life and work in a protected area between the two countries, and the preservation of an important cultural heritage and tradition.
