Project summary

Specific cross-border objective of the project was to improve the business cooperation and trade between enterprises, in particular SMEs from the project area, which are working to develop technologies and products / services, related to renewable energy sources (RES), and to improve cooperation between enterprises and institutions of knowledge, which are developing technological solutions for RES. The objective of promoting cooperation, in addition to the specifics – focus on the RES, as a sector that in developed countries grows rapidly, creating thousands of jobs. Slovenia and Croatia are lagging behind in this area. Because of the obligations of states with regard to the increase of use of energy from renewable sources, this sector is particularly important. Project activities would not be possible with business investment. Planning models, information and public awareness, organizing knowledge transfer from R&D institutions, enterprises and the selection of suitable projects, and the promotion of networking of SMEs, which is characterized by the lack of cooperation, is possible only with the involvement of public funds. EU funds have also stimulated private investments into the companies, and job creation, and therefore indirectly contributed to increase of economic power and competitiveness of the areas involved in the project, improving the use of RES, and thus to achieving the main objectives of the EU in the field of sustainable economic development.
