Project summary

The primary purpose of the project was to develop a model of cooperation between partners, which is based on social responsibility for cultural heritage. We wanted to revive and amend the experiential knowledge of the elderly and to train them for the volunteer work in museums and museum collections. At the same time we wanted to educate museum staff and leadership of museum collections to understanding the concept and nature of organized volunteering of the elderly in the culture. We have linked cultural-tourism destination in the program area in the common cultural and tourist offer in the international market. Specific objectives of the project were: program design and implementation of training volunteers in the field of cultural and natural heritage; raising public awareness of the professional volunteer work at non-traditional areas, where the culture is incorporated; enabling sustainable transfer of knowledge in the field of natural and cultural heritage; networking and joint promotion of heritage areas with a common web page, a catalog and multilingual information points; reducing the deficit of skilled workers in the museums in the project area; and contribute to the preservation of Europe’s cultural heritage. The project included partners from the less developed parts of the eligible area NUTS 3, where there is a need for the introduction of volunteers in activities of preservation of natural and cultural heritage. Co-financing of the project partners provided the ability to create a joint educational program for transfer of knowledge in the field of natural and cultural heritage. Trained participants learned about the natural and cultural heritage of the entire project area. With that the public was encouraged to study the language, history and civilization of their country and neighboring countries. With made multilingual catalog of natural and cultural heritage and a common web page, which includes a brochure and educational materials, we encouraged joint development of cooperation in the field of heritage, increased the offer in cultural tourism, and improved the overall protection of natural and cultural heritage. Info points KULT PRO works also after completion of the project for all partners and provide information for volunteers, guardians of natural and cultural heritage, random visitors, tourism professionals and other interested public.
