Project summary

Specific cross-border objectives of the project were: to establish the proper maintenance of protected and natural areas, and prevention of further overgrowing of the landscape; increasing the value of natural and cultural elements of karst through rehabilitation, return to natural heritage and raising awareness among local residents and visitors, on the importance of maintenance of natural and cultural resource. The most important cross-border impact of the project was the preservation of the units of natural and cultural heritage in the karst area of ​​the project. Through cooperation between the partners, the cross-border impact of the project was a joint management strategy of karst area. Restored heritage, successful project promotion and public awareness, have all contributed to the conservation of natural and cultural resources in the entire area of ​​karst. The EU funds are used for joint planning and networking between the partners, who must cooperate with each other to achieve their goals. Between the countries there is no other appropriate strategy for promotion of such cooperation and management; besides that, the added value of EU co-financing is the valuable experience about the implementation of projects financed by the EU.
