Project summary

The main objectives of the project were: creating of a dynamic cross-border region with intensive interaction between project partners of the Pomurje and Međimurje cross-border region, in accordance with previously defined mutual goals; stimulating and supporting the exchange of cultural and social events and activities between Slovenia and Croatia; facilitating the transfer of knowledge and experience between public cultural and education; adapting and coordinating various cultural assets and activities in order to enhance the development of the Pomurje and Međimurje cross-border region, thus improving the quality of everyday life and services through cultural development; systematizing the exchange of information for easier exchange of services, planning mutual activities in the future and mutually promoting cultural and educational institutions and events. Cross-border added value of the project “pHisCulture” was an increased level of cultural education of the citizens of the area, with special focus on the younger population, which is expected to build and represent a sophisticated and culturally sensitive audience in the future, as well as to become consumers of cultural-touristic offerings and services. Learning from the Slovenian partners is priceless, as well as experiences in cultural marketing, which is getting more and more interesting but is not enough used for economic growth. The established collaboration with Slovenian partners was a smart investment in the future. By using EU funding the project contributes to its own objectives, as well as objectives in promoting EU policies of economic development. The activities had big cross-border impact on the public perception of common cultural heritage and helped in establishing further cooperation between the Pomurje and Međimurje region. The cultural events during the project enhanced the tourist offer, enriched cultural and social life of the citizens in the cross-border region, and improved the quality of public life. The business sector also showed interest in investing in the cultural sector. A common cultural-historical heritage and belonging to the same cultural sphere of the Pomurje and Međimurje cross-border region were defined. International and inter-institutional cooperation was established. Digitizing of historically important items and creating multimedia applications opened the way for the development and implementation of information society within the museum, and it helped in establishing a dialogue with the younger population.
