Project summary

The project has developed intensive collaboration between organizations from Croatia and Slovenia, which are using swimming as a means of improvement of physical and mental health, for social integration and inclusion of disabled people. The organizations have exchanged the experience and knowledge on professional meetings, visited the exchange of experts, organized joint meetings of disabled people and used the website as a source of information and a node of social network for communication, education and promotion of project. This has improved the operation of organization supporting disabled people, improving the health of disabled people and increasing their social inclusion. The project has enabled the intensive exchange of knowledge and experience, achieved through the support of disabled people. Partners have gained complementary knowledge and working conditions in generating new quality in area of swimming for improvement of health and inclusion of disabled people. It is important that the disabled persons from participating regions went through exchange visits: participants from the continental part of Slovenia have used the capacities at Rijeka, where the training is performed in sea water. At same time, some solutions and capacities used in Slovenia were available for the participants from Croatia. In this way the project made significant improvements.

Key results and performed activities (quantitative results; max. 3 – 5)

6 swimming festivals, with various activities: education, competitions, promotions, the exchange of experience and good practice;

6 seminars with experts lecturing on the problem of swimming as a kind of therapy for people with disabilities, and the activities of institutions supporting these people;

30 new teachers of swimming and 150 special-needs visitors.
