Project summary

Specific cross-border objectives of the project were: the preservation and restoration of the archaeological heritage – Ančnikovo fortress above the village Jurišnjo on Pohorje, Rifnik in Šentjur near Celje, Ajdovski Gradec above Vranje near Sevnica, Kuzelin at Donja Glavnica, Aquae Iasae in Varazdinske Toplice; interpretation and popularization of the cultural heritage with archaeological research, interactive workshops and training in the field of heritage interpretation and experimental archeology for different target groups; the inclusion of modern forms and methods of heritage interpretation on archaeological sites “in situ”; linking partner sites and the exchange of experience and good practice (participation in events, workshops, lectures); implementation of thematic lectures and workshops (the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, experimental archeology, cultural tourism). The “Revived archaeological sites – contemporary interpretation of heritage as a foundation for cultural tourism”, establishes cross-border cultural integration of archaeological sites in the partner regions. With this concept, the project contributes to the creation of cross-border cultural products in the best possible way, and that is the main added value of cross-border dimension of the project. The project can be a model for the cross-border cooperation and it makes a significant contribution to the creation of cross-border cultural products. By connecting archaeological sites between the partners and influence the perception of the population in the regions partners of common history, cultural and natural heritage, there are significantly affects the long-term convergence and enhanced cooperation among the partner regions in the future.
