Project summary

With The contribution of economical lighting towards savings and a cleaner environment, is a project which connected 7 Slovenian and Croatian partners, with a common goal to reduce the use of electrical energy in the public sector, reduce the light pollution and the cost of the energy used for lightning. The partners have executed shared actions for the improvement of energetic efficiency and the protection of the environment on the cross-borders area. Within the project, the partners performed the following activities: examine the state of technology in the field of lamps and bulbs for street lighting and the illumination of cultural monuments, with emphasis on the color of light, on utilization rate and influences on the environment, globally and in cross-border regions; analysed the legislative criteria and demands from culturally protected city centres; made a draft of Croatian decree about threshold values of light pollution, that would be suitable to the Croatian Government, to establish procedures for accepting the proposal of change of the Slovene decree; implemented an energy review of public lighting systems in Krško, in the Municipality of Kidričevo, Jastrebarsko and Zaprešič; created a demonstration line on the level of one street in the area of the Municipality of Krško and in the town of Zaprešić; performed the necessary measurement of lighting before, during and after the completion of the street lighting demonstration project; printed a Technical manual about lamps, bulbs and the regulation of public lighting in accordance with the demands of the European standard in both the Croatian and Slovenian language; organized at least six workshops about energy efficient public lighting in Slovenia and Croatia; carried out site inspections of public lighting systems; connected the municipalities with the GREENLIGHT (http://regea.org/greenlight/); created a website, bilingual brochure, promo flyer, DVD film, published articles in professional literature, collections, newspapers, local TV stations, portals, and organized a press conference about the project. The project created new partnerships and sustainable cooperation between the Slovenian and Croatian partners, gained new transfers of knowledge, experience and good practice between partners and better consciousness and qualification of target groups on the field of public lightning on the cross-border area of Posavje and Podravje regions and the municipality of Zagreb.
