REMEDIASANUS
Project summary
The objective of the project was to protect the environment of the cross-border area, in order to strengthen and raise the awareness of local population about the environment, but also to reduce the environmental risks of the existing pollution. The project partners noted, that they must take measures in order to solve problems, which are slowing down their social and economic development. One of such problems were the illegal landfills. The cross-border effect was reflected in undertaking joint initiatives and the cooperation of the municipal / city departments, with the aim of rehabilitation and prevention of emergence of new illegal landfills. The project has implemented the activities in such a way, that it took into account the lessons learned and experience gained through the already implemented projects in both regions. The project achieved the following outputs: a database of existing illegal landfills in the project area; criteria for selection of illegal landfills for rehabilitation; rehabilitation of 60 illegal landfills; tables of waste disposal prohibition; 5 remediation pilot projects; a film about the restoration of a landfill; 39 workshops in kindergartens; 43 educations in primary schools; 30 educations for public institutions; a study trip to Rogaška Slatina; public tribune for residents; 115.000 promotional leaflets and packages.
